Jackie Herron
Compassion & Justice Director
Well, glad you clicked on me! I like to read bios too! I grew up in Florida and then moved to Chicago in 1995 (I still get strange stares from people) to study Bible and Theology at the Moody Bible Institute. I have come to love the Chicagoland area as it is here my heart was ignited for Compassion and Justice ministry. As a former nurse, compassion was a natural - but it was not till I went through a personal crisis that God allowed me to see how vital the church was to empowering and loving the marginalized and fighting injustice.
In the moments I am not connected to a computer or a phone, I love to read, spend time in coffee shops, and enjoy everything with my new husband, Jim! Yes, I’m a newlywed and am proud of it (2-21-2010)! I met Jim here at Willow Creek Community Church - North Shore through a ministry we both love and serve in - Safe Families. I have two new amazing sons - Jake (17) and Nate (12) and if you are around the church much, you will soon notice my 3 favorite guys.
I’ve been at Willow since 2004 and I currently direct our local and global compassion and justice (CJ) ministry for our campus. I help champion this area through CJ classes, CJ events and initiatives and partnering with ministries and churches both here and in Africa and Latin America. My favorite part of what I do is serving with the best people in the world. I truly love what I get to do and the people I do it with!
