Meeks, the founder and senior pastor of Salem Baptist Church—the largest African-American church in Illinois—located in the Roseland community of Chicago. Elected as Illinois State Senator for the 15th Legislative District in 2002, Meeks considers his position as a leader in Chicago and Illinois an extension of his ministry to those in need.
